The assignment aspect of these contests tends to push the writers in new
directions--stimulating creative juices.
The deadline pressures writers to go ahead and finish their work.
The competitive aspect provides a goal to attain. Plus, it's nice to have a
little excitement thrown into the process of self-improvement.
The Basics...
Around the fifteenth of each month, a title is assigned and entrants have until the fifteenth
of the following month to submit their works by email. Soon after, winners are selected
and become eligible to display our official winner's badge at their personal web sites.
Every entry, however, has the opportunity to be critiqued by the members of the
ACWclub. This has proven to be the most popular aspect of these contests.
Win or lose, entrants will probably get helpful feedback on their work.
In order to read the critiques, simply join the club. We do bite, but only because
sugar-coated critiques offer little help to writers who are serious about improving.
Thus, our motto: "It's all about becoming better writers."
